Overview: |
|
The Fire Falcon is a Clan OmniMech, seen sporadically among the Jade Falcons. They appear to be evaluating this 'Mech as a replacement for the Koshi, over which the Fire Falcon has many advantages: superior ground speed, frontal armor and heavier weapons. However, the Fire Falcon also suffers significant disadvantages. It does not include an active probe as part of its standard equipment, and its lack of jump jets impairs its mobility. Paper-thin rear armor also makes the Fire Falcon particularly vulnerable to infantry heavy weapons. None of these characteristics are desirable in a reconnaissance vehicle, which by the nature of its mission often runs into ambushes of camouflaged infantry and combat vehicles. |

Configuration / Variants: |
The primary configuration of the Fire Falcon consists of two extended-range medium lasers and two improved smaller lasers mounted in the right arm. The left shoulder sports twin Streak short-range missile launchers, each capable of firing four missiles at a time. An effective medium pulse laser is mounted in the left arm. Heat build-up is significant when all these weapons are fired simultaneously, but the Fire Falcon can nonetheless lay down an impressive level of fire for a few minutes at a time. A second configuration appears to serve as an overmatch vehicle, providing long-range autocannon and LRM fire for advancing units of the primary-configuration Fire Falcons. A third reported configuration, spotted on a Fire Falcon with the markings of the Falcon Keshik, sports two long-range large lasers and a targeting computer. During the Jade Falcon withdrawal from Tukayyid, a unit of this Fire Falcon held up the advance of a Com Guard medium company for some time before the Com Guards put it out of action. A fourth variant seems to be configured for anti-personnel missions, with four 20mm miniguns and two SRM-6 racks, designed to break up massed infantry formations or clear out buildings in close-quarters city fighting. The final configuration is reportedly used in conjunction with heavy missile- or Arrow IV-equipped units. With its TAG and Narc beacons, this Fire Falcon works perfectly as a spotter, directing fire from hidden units. As much tactical sense as this configuration makes, however, it is anathema to the traditional Jade Falcon perspective of honorable combat in one-on-one duels. Therefore, this configuration will probably never appear in front-line units. |
Deployment: |
The Fire Falcon is being deployed more frequently along Clan Jade Falcon's border with the Lyran Alliance, always accompanying Black Lanner OmniMechs. None have been reported in the forces of any other Clan. |

A rarely seen Configuration, possibly due to its lack of raw firepower, the T Configuration of the Adder is still a deadly oponent, espeically against light mechs. The use of Large Pulse lasers coupled with a targeting computer basicly assures a hit against enemy targets, and in the hands of a truely gifted warrior spells quick doom for most enemies as critical locations are removed with a surgions skill. Besides the Weapons, this configuration of the Adder includes an ECM system allowing it to shield itself and its starmates from several different systems of advanced targeting. |

Overview: |
|
When the SLDF left the Inner Sphere in 2784, they took with them several prototype Clints, each in the original configuration that carried the Armstrong-Buster autocannon rather than the lighter cannon used in the mass-produced models. These prototypes went to storage in a Brian Cache on Circe and there they languished throughout the Exodus Civil War.
When Clan Snow Raven needed to rebuild after the Not-Named Clan's nuclear attack on their capital of Dehra Dun, they claimed the prototypes and pressed them into service. Snow Raven scientists worked to correct the stress problems on the 'Mech's frame caused by carrying the heavier autocannon, and by 2830 had transformed they poorly regarded prototype into a well-armed recon 'Mech. |

Capabilities: |
The Ravens' key modification was replacing the large Pitban 240 fusion plant with a locally produced Type 81. While it offered the same output as the Pitban, the Type 81 was much lighter, allowing technicians to reinforce the arm and shoulder skeleton that repeatedly failed on the prototypes. Additional spare mass was used to increase the armor to seven tons and ammunition capacity to four tons.
During the Golden Century the design was further modified, replacing the Armstrong-Buster cannon with a KOV LB-10X that allowed selectable ammunition loads, and upgrading the lasers to extended-range variants. All other systems remained as in the original Andoran Industries model, and many retained their SLDF designations. Ironically in this age of modern technology, the Clint IIC still uses the original Sloane 220 Lockover TTS system. |
Deployment: |
Clan Snow Raven used the Clint IIC in many clashes with other Clans during the Golden Century. The most notable was the defense of the Hellgate agrodomes in 2897. Though the speed and maneuverability of the Clint IIC provided the Ravens with a major advantage, the Ravens' battlefield inexperience cost them the fight, prompting Clan to abandon the mining colony to the Steel Vipers only two years later.
With the Ravens' acquisition of OmniMech technology, many of their second-line 'Mechs were relegated to rear-echelon duty, including the Clint IIC. The Ravens chose to follow a policy of quality rather than quantity, and by the late thirtieth century they were faced with the choice of either decommissioning or mothballing the venerable design. The Blood Spirits' offer in 2977 to trade several of their WarShips for the Snow Raven 'Mech surplus came at a particularly good time. Along with many other older designs, most of the Clint IICs were transferred to the Spirits and became part of their Omicron Galaxy. Following the destruction of several Blood Spirit Galaxies, in their battles with the Star Adders and Burrocks, however, few Clints remained in Blood Spirit service.
In 3052, the Snow Ravens built the first new Clint IIC since production ceased in 2917, seeking to exploit the invading Clans' need for new equipment to replace their war losses. Clans Wolf and Ghost Bear acquired the largest numbers of the design, trading resources from the inner Sphere for manufacturing output. The Ravens have refused to trade the design to either the Steel Vipers or the Jade Falcons because of ongoing feuds with those Clans. |

Overview: |
|
The Hunchback IIC is a reworking of the venerable Star League-era HBK-2, a basic design that has remained largely unchanged since its inception. Initial hardware assessments of this new version observed among the Clan forces suggest that Clan technicians incorporated into this machine more compact and technologically sophisticated components, allowing the installation of two rapid-fire autocannons rather than a single AC-20. The higher tech also allows room for the installation of jump jets, which greatly enhance the Hunchback's effectiveness as an urban and woodland fighter. |
|
|
|
|
|
Capabilities: |
This version of the tried and true Hunchback is similar to its Inner Sphere counterpart in at least one respect: the 'Mech is lightly armored for a unit of its weight class. Indeed, the Hunchback's overall design makes it ill-suited to endure a protracted engagement with hostile forces. In addition to the weakness of its armor, the BattleMech's main weapons-its Ultra autocannons --- only carry sufficient ammunition for about 20 seconds of sustained fire. The addition of jump jets has done much to improve the usefulness of this design in long-term battles by giving it extra mobility, but the jump capability may not compensate for the design's apparent flaws. Even with the ability to jump out of weapons locks and crossfires, the Hunchback IIC remains only an average heavy weapons platform. Given the advanced materials and systems observed in other Clan 'Mechs, the question of why this design is still among their front-line units continues to provide a point of contentious debate. One school of thought holds that, regardless of the rhetoric, the Clans are human and therefore make mistakes. As with the CGR-lAl Charger, the Clan designers may have decided that overemphasizing one aspect of the battlement would give the unit an advantage. And like all military projects, the Hunchback IIC program took on a life of its own, and by sheer bureaucratic inertia the 'Mech made it into production and distribution to the troops. The other school of thought attempts to explain the Hunchback IIC's design by placing it in the context of the warrior caste culture. The Clans practice the ultimate "up or out' personnel policy. Warriors who do not prove exemplary in combat are weeded out, denied the opportunity to assume leadership roles or contribute to the next generation of their caste. Warriors who fail to be identified as ristars become more and more desperate and begin taking more risks in combat, looking for that one glorious fight that will place them back on the path to a Bloodname. For these types of warriors, the Hunchback IIC, with its all-or-nothing design, is a perfect match. |
Deployment: |
The Hunchback IIC serves in the front lines of nearly all the invading Clans. Reports indicate that Hunchback pilots attached to front-line units seem to fight with a desperate ferocity unique even among the Clans, evidence that supports the idea that the Hunchback IIC is a last-chance 'Mech for Clan pilots. |

Overview: |
A menacing 'Mech whose characteristic configuration features arms that end in double-barreled large lasers, the Ryoken has earned respect and fear throughout the Successor States---especially in the Draconis Combine, where it first appeared. The Ryoken is versatile, efficient, and deadly, with an extra-light engine, endo steel internal structure, ferro-fibrous armor, and double heat sinks. In all of its configurations, the Ryoken can deliver massive firepower for a medium 'Mech. |
Capabilities: |
The armies of the Inner Sphere were totally unprepared to face a 'Mech equipped with extended-range large and medium lasers on each arm and enough heat sinks to let the pilot use them. These lasers, plus an extended-range medium laser mounted in the 'Mech's head, can devastate a foe in moments. Because of its speed and firepower, this configuration of the Ryoken commands the respect of every armed force in the Successor States.
A common alternate, Configuration A, carries a giant LRM-20 rack on its right arm to soften up the enemy from a distance. It also sports four medium pulse lasers that can cause great damage quickly, plus ammunition-efficient Streak missiles mounted in its right and left torsos.
Alternate Configuration B features a massive Ultra-20 autocannon on its left arm. This version shares the Black Hawk's distinctive hexagonal arrangement of six extended-range medium lasers in its right arm.
Alternate Configuration C, thus far seen only among the Ghost Bears, features an LB 10-X autocannon on its left arm and a large pulse laser on the right. This C model also carries medium pulse lasers in its right and left torsos.
Alternate Configuration D is a mobile missile platform, with a Narc beacon that gives its impressive array of missile launchers greater accuracy. Not only does it carry a massive LRM-20 launcher and plenty of reloads on each arm, but its left torso also supports two SRM-2 racks. This triangular firing platform allows multiple targeting in an unusual mounting not seen in any Inner Sphere 'Mechs.

Deployment: |
The Ryoken, in several configurations, is one of the most common 'Mechs in the Smoke Jaguar forces. The primary configuration is also common in the other Clans, but the alternates are less widespread. Especially among the Smoke Jaguars, the Ryoken draws so many different assignments that Draconis Combine MechWarriors can expect to battle these OmniMechs in almost any engagement. |
